People say Ecuadorian food is underrated but I’ve only seen mostly potatoes and bananas.. it’s not bad food but it didn’t blow my mind.

- Caldo de Gallina: chicken soup
- Ceviche: Fish and seafood are cooked before they are marinated in the acid of the lime juice. I prefer the Peruvian one though
- Hornado: spit roasted pig, usually freshly carved in front of you
- Jugo de caña: sugarcane juice. Fair warning: it’s very sweet!
- Jugo de mora: raspberry juice. Ask sin Agua (without water) or you’ll just get a flavored water more than a real juice
- Langostinos: shrimps, you can eat them in so many ways I can’t write them all!
- Llapingachos are small patties of grated potato, cheese and seasoning that are fried. Now, this, is really good!
- Empanadas de platano y chocolate: chocolate and banana empanadas, this is a must!!
- Encebollado: fish stew
- Pan de yuca: soft bread made with flour from the yuca root, cheese, butter, and eggs
- Patacones: green plantain fried and usually served with some sort of cheese
- Platanitos: plantain chips, salted, à good snack
- Salchipapas: are french fries with a hot dog cut up on top, served with ketchup and mayo.
- Trucha: Trout is a traditional dish
