Coyhaique, Coyhaique.. what to say? I had to come here as it was the only tour I could find to the marble caves in this season but it got cancelled because of the rain.
So I decided to make the best out of the situation and discovered the city. It was quick! You can walk around, going to the maté statue or he artisanal market on the main square.

If you want to experience some nature, you could go to the Coyhaique National Reserve. But it was a bit disappointing.. well to be fair, it was pouring rain and I was alone so I got a bit freaked out feeling I was in Snow White’s enchanted forest. But the walk leads to a few lagoons that are pretty nice. Entrance fee is 2000 pesos.

Coyhaique is an hour away from Balmaceda airport, which you can join with a minivan Suray for 2500 pesos. Heck the schedule because it varies from one day to another.
After a disastrous experience at the Hostal Austral, I decided to treat myself with a little hotel. I went to Tehuelche Natura and it was great. The room was cute with wooden details, the breakfast was incredible with homemade pies and the staff was just so nice! They even made me a breakfast to take away because I had to leave early for an excursion.

Restaurants
Tropera: local brewery, I really enjoyed he beer and the burger was delicious! A burger and a big beer is 8500 pesos, but the restaurant is a 10-15min away from the center. But it opens up your appetite! And the restaurant is build into the brewery itself so it’s really original.
Mon-Sat 12pm-2am
Holzer: nice coffee shop with delicious pastries. I recommend their red fruits pie…
Dussen 321, Tue-Sun 9:30am-8pm
Basilic Bistro: French vegetarian restaurant with a daily menu including starter, main course and dessert at 7000 pesos. Really good and the staff is adorable! Try a apple-mint fresh juice too (3000 pesos).
