Copacabana is a very small village on the coast of Lake Titicaca. It’s quite touristy but very peaceful. You should stay 2 days at the most, one to discover the islands and one to just relax in the sun. To be completely honest, after visiting the islands on the Peruvian side, I was a bit disappointed with the Bolivian side. I would not say it’s a must on your itinerary but if you have time to spare, it’s a very relaxing village. It has a hippie vibe with a lot of vegetarian restaurants.
Cathedral
After walking around the main square, Plaza 2 de Febrebo, and on the street 6 de Agosto, you can have a look at the Catedral.

Mercado
The main market is located at the intersection of Pando and Jauregui. There are 3 markets and you can find some breakfast items or other ingredients. Opens from 7am to 11am and from 4pm to 10pm but opening hours may vary.
Restaurants & hostel
Don’t forget to try the trucha (trout), specialty and freshly fished from the lake!
- Hostel Joshua & Restaurant
I slept at the hostel while in Copa. I’m. It quite sure if I recommend it or not… The place was nice because it had a garden and hamacs to relax, was outside of the Main Street and is an ecological/hippie place. And breakfast is good (fruits, home made bread with home made peanut butter). But the bed was the worst I’ve ever had and the showers didn’t have hot water!
But the restaurant.. incredible! Vegan and vegetarian food only, but it was so tasty! I’m not a vegan nor a vegetarian but it blew my mind. The lentil burger, the falafel wrap (good option to take away when you visit Isla del Sol). A little more expensive then other restaurants but totally worth the money! I really recommend it.
Calle Bueno
- Pit Stop
Owned by an Argentinian rastafari, the empanadas and quiches (6-15 bolivianos) are delicious! Just next to all the bus departures so perfect to have a bit while waiting for your bus!
Avenida 16 de Julio
- KM/0
Surprisingly good, despite the sad atmosphere of the place. You can have a menu vegan or with meat for about 30 bolivianos including soup, main course and dessert. I have to say the fries were pretty good!
