Peru/Arequipa – Restaurants

Pretty cityscapes aside, Arequipa has played a fundamental role in Peru’s gastronomic renaissance with its classic spicy dishes such as rocoto relleno (stuffed spicy red peppers) or chupe de camarones (prawn chowder), best enjoyed in one of the picanterías restaurants.

Pasta Canteen

These pasta are delicious! For 16 soles, you get to choose what kind of pasta you want, a sauce and 2 ingredients. Included as a starter, you get a fresh salad and bread, it’s a great deal! And the place is charming too with its little mezzanine and super friendly staff.

La Petite Française

If you’re looking for a little crêpe, La Petite Française is the place to go! The taste is good, the ingredients are awesome and the service, as well as the place, is great. And if you’ve been travelling for a while in South America, I’m pretty sure you’re starting to miss Nutella, so go for the banana-Nutella one, mmmh…

Ratatouille

Yes, another French restaurant, but I guess you understood that I wanted some European food (3 months of Peruvian food, as delicious as it is, is getting a bit too much…). The gaspacho was a bit to vinegary for me, but other wise it was very good. And for a 10 soles menu of the day (starter + main course), why hesitate?

El Buda Profano

First time I’ve have vega sushis and I have to say… It’s delicious! Even though I kind of missed having some fish in it, the sushis were very tasty and not too pricey (10 sushis for 15 soles).
