Peru/Ayacucho – Restaurants

Ayacucho has very good restaurants, you are sure to have a nice time!

Frutelli

Frutelli (also known as Creamz): AMAZING ice cream! The place doesn’t look very nice and the ice creams look kind of cheap but… OMG! I recommend taking the paletas (ice lolly) and not the scoops.

I tried the maracuya-mango, strawberry-kiwi and the strawberry-cheese cake. Artisan-made with fresh fruits, they were all delicious!

Sabor Andino

Very good typical Peruvian and Ayacucho food. Go to the last floor to have a nice view with the windows. Peaceful place and reasonnable prices, you can also have the menu option (sort of “menu of the day”): you choose one starter and one main course from the list and have a cheaper price (9 or 16 soles, a drink included).

I recommend the Puca Picante. Puca means red in Quechua, and picante means spicy in Spanish. It is prepared with pork, peanuts, patatos, beans. It can also be made vegetarian.

Mamma Mia Trattoria

If you’ve traveled to Peru, you know good pizza is hard to find. So I found it for you! Very good Italian place, nice pizzas, good wine, a truly atmospheric place where you can laze away the late afternoon. I would mostly recommend eating dinner on the terrasse, it’s way more cosy!

Plaza Moré, Jr. 28 de Julio 262 Int 1 (you need to enter a sort of complex and get to the 2nd floor)
Mon-Sat 4pm-11pm
Pizza round 22 soles for a pizza

Via Via

You will find a few Via Via restaurants in Ayacucho. I tried the one on Plaza de Armas and it was really nice. The terrasse over the Plaza offers a wonderful view for a breakfast or lunch. Service is great (even though a bit slow), and the quality of the food is great. I recommend the pankekes con manjar (crepes with a sort of dulce de leche sauce, 6.5 soles), fresh lemonade or the SuperChia Smoothie (mango, banana, orange, yogurt, chia seeds, 10 soles).
