Peru/Ayacucho – Quinua and the Pampa Obelisco

Quinua is about 30km away of Ayacucho. You will find the Pampa Obelisco, a huge monument that marks the site of the Battle of Ayacucho.  To get there, you can grab a colectivos to Quinua (5-6 soles one hour). Better to ask the tourism desk the exact spot where to find them on the street José Santos Chocano.

The place is very peaceful, I really recommend going there. I spent a few hours just enjoying the view and quite.

You can also walk to a waterfall. Fair warning: the water is freezing cold!

From the Obelisco, walk down to the town (15min, going down). You can walk around the town, visit a few artisans shops as the city is well-known for its ceramic handicrafts. But 1 hour should be enough, it really is small! You can also taste the cuy (guinea pig) in the market, very typical in the region! To be honest, tastes a lot like chicken…
