Mercado #1 Surquillo
One of the most authentic produce markets in the city, where housewives and chefs rub shoulders, hunting down the freshest ingredients for the family lunch or tasting menu. Be aware that this is not a “pretty” market like you can find in other cities, but it definitely is genuine, you will meet Peruvians doing their everyday shopping and you will find good and fresh products.
Located in the district of Surquillo, the market is just a few blocks from Miraflores (next to the Ricardo Palma Metropolitano stop). Paseo de la Republica block 53
Mon-Fri 7am-7pm, Sat 7am-5pm, Sun 7am-4pm
La chinita
La chinita (the little chinese women): will find some yarn and knitting accessories really cheap (2 soles for a crochet). The alpaca yarn is 50% alpaca and 50% synthetic, it’s pretty soft and costs only 6.5 soles/100g.
Looking at Mercado no1 Surquillo, do not enter but go on the left side and it will be the 3rd shop. The shop doesn’t actually have a name but you can ask people Dónde está la bodega de la chinita? (Where is the shop from the little Chinese women?) Don’t worry, it isn’t offensive in Peru to call Asian people chinita.
Mon-Fri 9:30am-5pm, Sat 9:30am-2pm
Inca Market (or Indian Market)
Located in Miraflores, Peruvian handcrafted objects and typical Peruvian souvenirs. Very touristy but still nice to walk around and buy some souvenirs. You should keep in mind that there aren’t that many souvenir shops in Lima, so this is a good option.

Kaypi
It’s a tourist shop, with Peruvian crafts and souvenirs, but the most interesting part is the yarn. one of the only places you’ll find baby alpaca yarn! It’s pretty expensive (175 soles for 10 balls of 50g, but you can negotiate), but the quality is very good and the colors are pretty.
At the corner of Av. Ricardo Palma and Av. Petit Thouars, across the street of the Dunkin Donuts
Larcomar
Larcomar is a shopping center is built into the cliffside, which gives you a splendid view on the Ocean. You’ll find international brands but also Peruvian shops from high fashion designers to souvenirs.
