Peru/Lima/Barranco – Isolina

Isolina-WORLD-2016-INTERIOR

Isoline is a great dining experience for anyone looking to try some traditional Peruvian ‘criollo’ dishes in a casual but vibrant restaurant. The restaurant is named after co-owner’s mother Doña Isolina and pays homage to her cooking and spirit. You should book a table or come early if you want a seat!

You will have a taste of a modern, high-end tavern style of the traditional Peruvian recipes. Even the atmosphere is modern with traditional touches like the original wood frame walls and old-fashioned sweet jars. You feel at home with your grandmother cooking in the kitchen and you eating with the whole family…

The concept is very clear: you share food. The dishes serve for about 3 people and are presented in in large old-fashioned bowls or dishes in the middle of the table. If you don’t want to share, ask for a half portion. I would say the price is reasonable if you look at the size of the portions (from 40 soles for a main course, for 3 people).

The beef melted off the bone, it was as tender and succulent. They serve the meat with a spoon and not a knives to prove that the meat is tender enough and, trust me, it was! Well, I guess you don’t become 21st restaurant in Latin America for nothing!
